From 22 to 25 January 2025 it was that time again – time for a Leafworks team event! This time, our international remote team travelled to the heart of Cologne. With around 20 participants from Germany, Spain and Greece, the Maritim Hotel became our base camp for four unforgettable days.
Day 1: Wednesday – Arrival and reunion
As usual at our team events, the greetings were warm and the anticipation was great. Even for those who had previously only known each other via the screen, it felt like meeting up with old friends. The first evening offered plenty of opportunity to get to know each other and chat – some people took advantage of the opportunity until late in the evening.
Day 2: Thursday – updates, pitches and thrillers
The morning started with a detailed company update. This time exceptionally well prepared, it provided deep insights into the current situation at Leafworks. What is the situation? Of course, we won’t reveal any company secrets here, but you can see for yourselves: Worried faces look different 😉
Then it was time for elevator pitches – although the surprisingly slow hotel lifts would have given us plenty of time to practise. There was definitely no shortage of deep conviction and plenty of good arguments!
In the evening, the hotel restaurant reserved exclusively for us was transformed into a scene of mysterious events. At the murder mystery dinner, some of us shone in their (newfound?) roles, but Mieke in particular, who turned out to be the murderer, did her job almost too well and later had to put up with some uncomfortable questions. Tobi must also be mentioned by name in his role as Emperor, the dog who was forbidden to wag his tail several times.

Day 3: Friday – Workshops, visions for the future and bowling
Hier ist unsere ganz und gar nicht größenwahnsinnige Vision für 2030:Perhaps not everyone was dewy-eyed in the morning (Lukas), but they were there! In addition to strategic planning and other workshops, the day was dedicated to our “5-year vision”, a visionary outlook of where we see ourselves as a team. One of the results can be admired here and yes, we are accepting applications! Here is our not at all megalomaniac vision for 2030:
After the workshops, it was off to the bowling alley, where our managing directors once again showed their true greatness and nobly withdrew from the race to the top of the table.
The evening ended on a traditional Cologne note – with a hearty meal in a brewery and a Kölsch beer or two, before heading first to a typical Cologne pub and then, for some, to the hotel bar. Here, at a late hour, a private disclaimer was signed – which shows either great foresight or pretty much the exact opposite. We’ll stay tuned!
Day 4: Saturday – Goodbye, Cologne!
Time to say goodbye – but with the certainty that we live remotely, but love to meet up in real life every now and then. Otherwise we’ll forget how great one or other of us is!
Thank you!
A huge thank you goes to:
- Annika and Dina for the perfect organisation
- Our managing directors Georg, Robert and Lukas, who made this event possible
- The entire team for four unforgettable days
We are already looking forward to the next time!
