Leafworks in Frankfurt: From Smoke and Fire

Leafworks beim Grillkurs

Ten months is too long! We hadn’t seen each other since January, so it was high time for a new offsite. Frankfurt was conveniently located and also tempted us with exotic specialities such as “Schäufelchen” or “Leiterchen” (which turned out to be huge mountains of meat. Without the “chen”!). And of course …

Leafworks in Frankfurt

If you say A (as in apple wine), you must also say B (as in apple wine).

Once almost everyone had arrived, we set out to discover Frankfurt’s gastronomy. To start with, we went to a very old-established pub, the kind that hasn’t changed in decades – and has no intention of doing so. The large crowd there loved it, and we drowned our astonishment at the fact that no beer whatsoever was served here in considerable quantities of apple wine, which was silently plunked onto the table in large jugs.

Stuffed and slightly hoarse – the noise level was considerable – we headed back to our destination: the hotel bar. Here, at the latest, we caught up on everything that sometimes falls by the wayside in our everyday working lives: private and trivial matters, comparing socks, stupid jokes and a few things that have no place here. What happens in the hotel bar, stays in the hotel bar!

Productive in the workspace around the corner

On Thursday morning, things got serious, and the swarm intelligence was at its best. After a successful introduction by Lukas and Robert, we worked out, both as a whole and in groups, new ways to provide our customers with the best customer service from A to Z, starting with the question: How do you actually open a door?

Everyone had kept the time free, the synergies were considerable and the focused energy in the room was incredible! This was not only down to us (ok, largely down to us), but also to the perfect working conditions. Many thanks to Workloft Frankfurt and, of course, to Annika and Dina, who once again organised everything perfectly!

Fire & Flame

The evening was more about the past than the future. A caveman-style barbecue course at Santos Grill awaited us – now it was time to roll up our sleeves. After a crisp introduction, we chopped (special thanks to the waffle team), deboned, peeled and
stirred to our hearts’ content. And then it was off to the embers!
The results were outstanding – we are really talented!

Whether grilled salad or rolled roast, club sandwich or grilled
waffle, skilfully homemade and with smoky flavours, everything tasted twice as good. And if you wanted to relive the memories the next day, all you had to do was sniff your jacket.

Slightly smokey for a strong finish

Despite the varying personal sates we were in – the hotel bar also earned some extra business from a few of us afterwards – everyone was back on time on Friday, even if some were still feeling a little rough around the edges. Nevertheless, we continued with the programme, finalising and planning the next steps before concluding with a special kind of team-building exercise that moved some to tears. This was definitely not due to the smoke!

With warm hearts and high motivation, we packed up the lovingly prepared gifts, said our goodbyes and wished each other good luck on the often uncertain train journeys home. (This would be necessary – some were allowed to stay an extra night.)

Conclusion: Three days that did us good

Frankfurt was not only what we needed as a team, but also what we wanted: time together, strong team performance with clear results and a new focus on the next stage.

Be warned! Anyone who encounters us in the coming weeks, whether as a customer, partner or in a workshop, is sure to feel the energy we have taken away with us from here. Hopefully not the smoke 😁
